Hong Kong Recovery

Friday, October 6th, 2006

Back from Hong Kong now, a little later than planned as I overslept and missed my flight. Doh!

It’s the first time I’ve ever missed a flight and it’s not like I only just missed it - when I woke up the plane had already been in the air for an hour.  I arrived at the airport in a dishevelled state with bloodshot eyes and found the right counter.
“Morning… I was supposed to be on the 9am flight”
The lady behind the counter looks at me with a knowing look - “Overslept?”
“Yeah, sorry about that…”

A small fine/charge to move the ticket to another flight later that day and I get back to KL 6 hours later than expected.

Opps.

Hong Kong Dash

Tuesday, October 3rd, 2006

In a spectacular display of organisational skills, I’ve been given 6 hours notice that I need to be in Hong Kong tomorrow. Last minute bookings of flights, hotels, cars etc. Quick nip home to pack and then off to the airport. What fun.
Will update with news + photo’s if they happen.

World Anti DRM day

Tuesday, October 3rd, 2006

Yay for hactivism. Today is International Day Against DRM and there’s lots going on.

Not sure what I’ll be doing - probably speaking like a prirate :-)

Update & Note to self: Today is also one of my best friend’s birthdays. Happy Birthday Sian.

From good to Goodies

Monday, October 2nd, 2006

I’m well on the road to recovery now and back at work, so every silver lining has a cloud, so that’s covered the Good.

Now for the Goodies, while listening to Suw and Kevin’s second podcast (Disclaimer: Suw is the Executive Director of the Open Rights Group of which I’m a member of the Founding 1000) I noticed that she mentioned that she’s been anglicising Kevin by showing him episodes of the Goodies. I’ve also discovered that a friend at work (who is also a techie) loves the Goodies.

Is there a connection between being into tech and 1970’s TV comedy? As a Goodies fan I’ve also been to live recordings of I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue and You’ll have had your tea. Both involving Graeme Garden who was one of the original Goodies.

I think further study is warranted.

On a related note, Stephen Fry has his own website - Joy.
