I was discussing this last night with something small and ferocious. All my counter arguments were batted straight back at me with out any mercy. Not to worry though, I may have lost the battle, but the war rages on. I’m off to get some friends.

I don’t have an issue with artists earning a living (I’ve got one in my immediate family and I don’t want him to be broke), I’m just against them pirating culture and thinking that they have a right to live of royalties for the rest of their lives without repaying society and without further contributing.

And as you know well, I’m not in need of advanced sarcasm. I’ll stick with my tried-and-tested basic sarcasm thank you very much.

Oh, and I think I have an opening in my diary in March…. 2045.

That’s because you spend too much time trying to persuade everyone that everything should be free and that artists have no right to earn a living. I’ve been running some time managment sessions, I’ll pencil you in for one if you like. I also do advanced sarcasm.

Alernatively, it’s a matter of deciding whether you really “need” to do all those things that you don’t have time to do. Try drawing a matrix and dividing tasks into “Should do”, “Want to do”, “Have to do” and “Need to do”

Examples – I “should” send Christmas cards etc, but I’m not going to. The “Should do” quadrant largely consists of chores of a morally and socially imperative nature. Washing up is another good example.

I “Want to” go to the pub, buy expensive toys, go back to bed etc. Not always practically possible, but a first choice activity. Always driven by base desires.
“Want to” will often be driven by the desire to either eat, drink or shag something.

“Have to” – Work stuff. Nuff said. Your life won’t end, but life will get a lot more complicated and difficult if you don’t. “Have to” is the worst category and consequently the fullest one.

“Need to” – The building is on fire and I “need to” get out. Basic survival stuff. “Need to” doesn’t take up a lot of space, but it is best to prioritise “need to” over anything else.

Actually I just made all this up because I need to do some work, but wanted to write nonsense instead. With a bit of sanding, it might start to make some sense though. Maslow can eat my shorts, I think we’ve redefined things for the 21st century.
