Why did we need a petition to bring maths back into physics?
Monday, June 25th, 2007I just signed this petition on the 10 Downing street site.
We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to Bring back mathematical rigor into secondary physics education.
We petition the government to return the teaching of secondary physics to the rigorous subject that it should be. Students should learn methods to mathematically describe the physical world rather than answer word questions that rely on opinion and non-scientific ideas.
My main question is: How the hell did we get to a stage where we were able to teach physics with non-scientific ideas?
